Hallgrímskirkja

This is a Lutheran (Church of Iceland) parish church in Reykjavik Iceland. At 244 feet, it is the largest church and one of the tallest buildings in Iceland. It is supposed to be designed to resemble the basalt lava flows of the surrounding landscape. It took them 38 years to build the church after they started it in 1945. There is a lift (elevator) to the observation tower, which gives you a great 360-degree view of the city.

I took this picture at around 130am in the morning. In the summer (when we were there) they have 24 hours of daylight. You just can’t tell because of the storm clouds in this picture.
