Chrysler Reflection

While in NYC, I met Rick Wagonheim who is a great photographer.  He and I were both out taking pictures of the Manhattan skyline from the Brooklyn Bridge Park.  I got the idea for this picture from him.  That’s the beauty of photography and other photographers; you find ideas and inspiration around every corner.

This was taken on Lexington Avenue between 42nd and 43rd Street in the midtown area of Manhattan.  The glass building is the Grant Hyatt New York (our hotel) and other building is the Chrysler Building.  The Chrysler Building is an example of Art Deco style and probably the finest building in NYC.   It was one of my favorites.  At 1,046 feet tall, it was the tallest building in the world for 11 months before the Empire State Building surpassed it.   Built by Mr. Walter P. Chrysler for the Chrysler Corporation, but the company never owned the building.  Chrysler Corporation used it as their head quarters from 1930 until the mid-1950s.

I just liked the way the reflection looked on the Grand Hyatt building.  MJ called this photo a “Brook Artsy” picture.  I didn’t know that category existed, but apparently it’s out there.  She didn’t tell me if she liked it or not, but that it is “Brook Artsy”.
