Rye Distillery

This photo is an old one that I took back in 2015, but I’ve never shared it.  This was an epic exploration of an abandoned Overholt Rye Distillery outside of Pittsburgh.  This was a tough shot to capture because it was a small and dark space.  But I wanted to capture the bottom of this structure.  This isn’t the best photo, but I like it.

Abandoned Rye Distillery

As I’ve mentioned in the past, some photos get processed and then sit on my hard drive for a long time (sometimes years) waiting to get posted.  I took this photo a while back from a photo walk with Dave, Brad, and Mike at an abandoned rye distillery outside of Pittsburgh.  This graffiti is on the 2nd floor.  You can see the hole in the floor where the liquid storage container used to sit.

Overholt Distillery No. 1 Scale Hopper

This is a photo of the No. 1 Scale Hopper at the abandoned Overholt Distillery outside of Pittsburgh.  This was a great site to explore and photograph.

Overholt Distillery 2

Tonight’s post will be short, due to the late hour.  I took this photo last fall on a photo walk with a few of the guys.  This is an abandoned rye distillery outside of Pittsburgh.  I love the framing of the door and windows with the Monongahela River in the background.  I also like the contrast of the old decaying building with the beautiful nature behind it.

Overholt Distillery

Yesterday I explored the abandoned Overhold Distillery with a few fellow photographers (Dave Truxell, Brad Truxell, and Mike Criswell  -   see the photo below.).  I have no idea how long it’s been since the distillery produced its last batch, but it looks like it was a long time ago.

Unfortunately, the sky was an ugly solid gray all day and we got a little rain.  But we made the best of it and had a great time.  This photo is one of my favorites from the day.  The good news is that I got a bunch I liked, so I’ll have to share them with you later.  In addition, Brad, Dave and I stopped at Robinson Falls before we left the area.  I’ll have some of those pictures for you in the future as well.
