Vessel and Empire State Building

During our last trip to NYC (last fall), MJ and I visited the Vessel and the High Line.  While we walked the High Line, I captured this photo of the Vessel with the Empire State Building in the background.  It was interesting to see it from a distance after being inside it a few minutes before hand.  There was also this weird reflection of the sun off the building behind it that caused an odd bright contrasting space towards the top of the Vessel.

Empire State Building

MJ and I spent hours at the Top Of The Rock during our last visit to NYC.  What a great time….at least for me.  MJ tolerates my photography obsession.  She stayed with me on top of that building hours longer then most people would.   This photo is from that summer evening before the sun set.

Details at Acropolis

When I was walking around the Acropolis during our trip to Athens Greece, I tried to capture photos of the entire structure.  But I also took photos of the small details and portions of the structure.  I’m probably the one person who finds these things interesting.  I don’t know.  Maybe everyone finds these things interesting as well.

Anyway, today’s photo is the upper corner of the Acropolis.  If you look closely, you can see a carved horse head at the very top of the roofline (see the enlarged image below).  I doubt most of the visitors even noticed this little detail.  Then again, maybe everyone noticed it immediately…..

Manhattan Bridge - Empire State Building

Can you see them both?  I took this photo from Brooklyn, looking back between a few buildings on the corner of Washington Street and Waters Street.  There have been many photos taken of this spot.  My version is just one of many and I like them all.  What do you think?  Do you like this night photo of NYC?

Empire Reflection

Last fall while in NYC, MJ and I covered a large section of Manhattan.  And of course, I photographed every moment.  I captured this photo on our 2nd night as we walked back to our hotel.  I noticed the Empire State Building reflecting off this glass skyscraper and had to capture the moment.  It’s a very artsy type of photo, which I love.  I’m guessing that this won’t be something most people like, but I like it.

Empire State Of Mind

During our last night in NYC, MJ and I went to the Top Of The Rock Observation Deck at Rockefeller Center.  Rockeller Center isn’t the tallest building in NYC and isn’t the only observation deck, but it is the one with the best view of the entire city (including an amazing view of Central Park).  This is looking south toward the Empire State Building.  In the background to the right, you can also see One World Trade Center being built at the World Trade Center Memorial site.  Now that One World Trade Center is almost done, the Empire State Building becomes the second tallest building in the city.
