Mid-life Crisis

First the photo…. I took this at the @seafireresort in Grand Cayman at the beginning of December.  This exterior path ran along the building to the restaurant at the end.  But enough about that….

Second…the Mid-life Crisis….  At least that’s what I’m calling it.  Watch the video below for more details.

Lunatic Asylum

I couldn’t come up with a clever title for this post for a number of reasons, which we won’t get into tonight.

Anyway, I took this photo recently at the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston West Virginia.  Unfortunately, they have the place all cleaned up.  It wasn’t grungy enough for me.  I wanted it in the state it was in when the Lunatic Asylum closed.  They’ve got it all “safe”, clean and “pretty”.  I think the real beauty would have been in the “dirty, stuff left behind” condition.  If that makes sense…..

I made the best of it and captured some cool photos.  This was on one of the upper floors.  Something about this hallway caught my eye.  Standing there, I could imagine all the patients (prisoners) being locked up in these little rooms.  Some of the “treatments” and “therapies” they used over the decades was rough to put it mildly.  When this facility was operational, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Hallway

We worked hard this weekend on home projects, both inside and outside the house.  What did you do this weekend?  Now it’s time to relax before work tomorrow…..  So, I’m going to post a photo, watch a little TV and just enjoy the evening.

Today’s photo:  I took this photo in an abandoned nursing dorm in the Pittsburgh area with Blair last fall.  For weird reasons, I was at this location twice within a few weeks, which was okay because it’s a beauty.

Red Hallway

On the 4th floor of the Seattle Central Library, the entire hallway is this bright red (floors, ceilings, walls, etc…).  Off this hallway are conference rooms, classrooms, and offices.  The red is a large contrast to the blues, metal, and glass that dominates the rest of the library.

Schools Out…..Forever!!!

I went on a nice photo walk yesterday with Jay Cassidy, Dave and Brad Truxell.  We went to an abandoned church (St. Peter's & St. Paul's Church) and school (Larimer Elementary) in the East Liberty area of Pittsburgh.  Here is a photo of the school hallway.  More pictures from these two sites in the future.
