Villanueva

As I mentioned in my blog post, it was hot during last Sunday’s Steelers vs. Vikings game.  Everyone got through it the best way they could find, including Steelers left tackle Alejandro Villanueva.  I would have paid him good money for that bottle of water.  The Steelers have always treated me well in the past, but we ran out of water during the first quarter of the game.   Oh well, I survived and had a good time.  So, I’ll stop complaining now.  By the way here is a fun fact, Villanueva is a military veteran, which is another reason to like him.

Hot Air Balloon

Today’s photo is from our trip to Sedona.  While we were there, we went on an amazing hot air balloon ride over the area.  It was a super fun way to spend the morning.  I took this photo of the inside of the balloon as the pilot was filling it up with air.  The balloon was still lying on its side about ¾ full, but not yet standing erect.

Balloon Shadow

At the risk of boring you, I am posting the 3rd photo in a row from the Sedona Arizona trip.  On our 2nd day in Sedona, we got up very early to enjoy a sunrise hot air balloon ride through the mountains.  It was an amazing experience and I liked this photo of our balloon’s shadow as we got down toward the ground at one point in our trip.  At times the sound of the balloon inflator (I have no idea if that’s the correct term for that) would scare animals out from under the bushes.

Not only was it a great experience, but it was even better because we got to spend it with our close friends (Kris & Scott).

Hot Metal Bridge

Tonight I have something different for you.  I like my photos to be rich with colors, texture, and vibrant……so I don’t do many black and white (b/w) photos.  But when I was working on this photo, it just screamed “make me a b/w pic!!!”.  So b/w is what you got!  I took this picture last summer while on a photo walk with Brad and Dave.  We started in the Southside shopping area and worked our way along the river toward this bridge.  In the past, there was a steel mill along the river next to this bridge.  Today there is expensive shopping, restaurants, bars, and corporate headquarters.

American Eagle Outfitters

Last night I went on a photo walk with Brad and David Truxell.  We decided to meet in the Southside area of Pittsburgh.  I’ve never been to this area of Pittsburgh before.  I didn’t have any idea what to expect and I was surprised at how nice it was.  I am also surprised I haven’t heard more about this area before.  There is a great park with a path along the river, the Hot Metal Bridge (I’ll have pictures of this cool bridge for you later), views of downtown, lots of cool bars/restaurants, and great shopping.

There are also some fairly new office buildings in this area.  Tonight’s picture is of the American Eagle Outfitters corporate headquarters, which sits overlooking the Monongahela River, and next to the Hot Metal Bridge (which I am standing while taking the picture).  Even though I didn’t capture anyone in my photo, there were tons of people walking, jogging, and cycling along the river and over the bridge.
