I took this at the start of our journey over a mountain pass in the West Fjords of Iceland. I loved the wildflowers, gravel road and mountains in the distance.
Vestrahorn Mountain
During our first trip to Iceland, MJ and I didn’t go to this site. Honestly, I didn’t even know about it at that time. In preparation for the 2nd trip, I discovered it online and put it on our itinerary and I am so glad I did.
It was about 30 minutes off the main road to the end of this peninsula. It cost us about $7 each to get access to the black sand beach and dunes, plus we got a chance to visit the Viking Café. They also have a recreated Viking Village, that we didn’t visit since we spent all our time out hiking around the black sand dunes and capturing photos of the Vestrahorn Mountain in the background. Like most amazing geographic locations, photos don’t do them justice, which is true of the mountains this photo as well.
This is a must-see Iceland spot. As a bonus, when MJ and I were leaving the location, we came upon a wild herd of reindeer. That was a “first” for me.
Iceland Countryside
I don’t remember where in Iceland I took this photo. I think it was in the Westfjords, but I’m not sure. Either way, it’s a beautiful spot. Anyone want to disagree?
Icelandic Mountain Range
This is one of what feels like hundreds of mountains in Iceland. As you drive around the outside of the country on the Ring Road, you are almost always near a mountain like this. I took this one with my drone while we rested at the picnic area on the Atlantic Ocean. Can you see us in this photo?
Cape Town Botanical Garden
I don’t know why I didn’t post this photo already. I took this in 2018 during our trip to South Africa and I really like it.
Airport Sunset
I don’t remember the name of this Sedona rock formation but capturing them at sunset from the airport is a very popular activity. We had to fight the crowd to get a spot to shoot and watch the sun go down. I think this trip was back in 2017.
Table Mountain
Here is a panorama photo I took from the top of Table Mountain during our trip to South Africa. Some cool things in this photo:
· Far upper right side is the control building. From here you get on a giant lift (think ski lift) that takes you up and down the mountain
· Just to the left of that building in the water is Robben Island. The old prison that held Nelson Mandela for decades is on this island
· The pointy hill in the right side of the photo down near Cape Town is called Signal Hill
· The town down the hill in the middle is part of Cape Town. I think the part is called Camps Bay neighborhood
· All the smoke to the left is from a wildfire that was uncontrolled while we were there. There was a major drought prior to our arrival so wildfires were a problem. This was one of a number of fires in the area at that time.
· Of course, all the water straight ahead is the Atlantic Ocean.
I got extremely lucky on this trip. The day we were scheduled to go up the Mountain wasn’t windy and was a clear day. The days before and after were canceled due to high winds. Great trip…..Beautiful country….

Bay of Kotor
Here is another photo from a past Europe trip where MJ and I ate to much gelato. I don’t know what it is about Europe, but we eat to much of it on every one of our trips to that area. We don’t routinely eat ice cream at home or on any other trips….. but Europe is gelato country for us.
Anyway, this is the Bay of Kotor with the city of Kotor, which is located in the country of Montenegro. Beautiful little country. This city is a fortified town on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast surrounded by limestone cliffs of Mt. Lovcen. The city goes back to the medieval times and probably earlier.

Cape Town Park
I took this photo during our South Africa trip at the end of 2017. We spent a little time in this park checking out the plants, flowers, and animals. I wanted to check out where this path went to, but I didn’t get the chance. What a beautiful spot. Can you imagine having this amazing park in your hometown?

Arizona Wilderness
What to share with you tonight????? I like to mix it up, but admittedly sometimes I get stuck in a rut. So I scanned through some of the pictures I had ready to post and selected this one. I took this photo during our trip to Arizona. This was taken in northern Arizona near Sedona.

FTI Berlin Cruise Ship
This is the FTI cruise ship Berlin in the Dominican Republic. We were on the Carnival Glory docked at Amber Cove right next to it and as you can tell, looking down onto it. I merged two photos together to create this panorama with the entire ship and island into the frame.

Dubrovnik's Marina
This Croatia city is beautiful. The ancient walled city within Dubrovnik is a wonderful location….well worth the trip. I took this photo standing on top of the ancient wall looking down at the marina. You can see some of the wall on the left side of the photo. I want to go back right now…..

Me in 3D
Peru was full of extremely cool locations, people, events, geography, and experiences. One of them was my chance meeting of Antonio Mocciola. At one point, we pulled off the side of the road to stop at this scenic overlook. Per normal, I was taking a ton of photos while we were standing there. Right before we left, Anotonio showed up with this travel group. Antonio is from Milan Italy and loves photography as well. He wanted to take my picture with this cool dual camera setup that he uses to take 3D photos (see a photo of him and the dual camera setup below). Of course I agreed….. He had me stand next to my camera setup with the Andes Mountains behind me. You can also see Michael’s tripod next to me on the right. Anyway, I thought it was cool and I am sharing it here with you. So get your 3D glasses out and take a look below.
Since returning from Peru, Antonio and I have communicated a few times. And of course he sent me the photo. If you want to check out more of Antonio’s work, please visit his website. (www.laborart.it)
Kris: Note the Cubs hat I wore in your honor. It didn’t come home from South America.

Cuzco - Puno Border
Crossing from the Cuzco province (basically the same thing as a state) to the Puno province means passing this spot in the Andes Mountains. This was the highest elevation we experienced in Peru at a little over 14,100 feet. I can tell you that it was a little hard to breath. Not terrible, but you could feel it.
Anyway, we stopped at this spot for a few minutes to look at the roadside vendors and take in the view of this amazing mountain range. My picture doesn’t do justice to this beautiful spot. Sorry I can’t give you a picture to match the real world experience of standing there. Regardless, I hope you enjoy it.
Note: Don't forget to look at the video below to see how beautiful this site was via a different media format.
Sorry about the wind noise on the video.
Machu Picchu
First, let me start by apologizing. I know I’ve been absent for the last 10 days. MJ and I have been traveling across Peru with my dad. As you can probably imagine, the Internet access is limited in the Andes Mountains.
During our time in the country, we traveled to Lima, Cuzco, Puno, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, Aguags Calientes, Machu Picchu, Juliaca, the floating islands of Uros, Lake Titicaca…..along with a number of other villages, historical sites, cool locations.
We had 6 flights, 2 boat rides, 2 train trips, taxi rides, tuk tuks, numerous bus rides, and I walked over 80 miles. It was a heck of a trip. Anyway, the highlight of any trip to Peru (and a must see) is Machu Picchu.
It was built by Incas around 1450, but was abandoned a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest. It remained hidden from that time until Hiram Bingham brought international attention to it in 1911. It is one of the new Seven Wonders of the World and like I already said, it is a must see. No picture, including mine, will ever do it justice.
Thunder Mountain
I like this photo a bunch. I took this at sunset from the Cultural Park in Sedona Arizona about 15 minutes after sunset. The sunset was behind me as I took this photo. I was actually facing the sunset (falling behind the mountains to the west) and I happed to look the opposite direction back at Thunder Mountain. It was at this moment that I realized the sky opposite the sunset was cooler then the sky looking into the sunset. So I ran over to reposition myself to get this shot. The colors in the sky lasted about 5 minutes and then it was over. “You gotta be quick” as Lenny Haise has said.
Have a great Sunday.
Iceland – Holar Mountain Range
This is the second panorama photo I’ve posted in a row. No reason, just luck I guess. Anyway, I like this photo of the mountain range on the road to Holar Iceland. How would you like to be the person with the house at the end of this driveway? The mountains are an amazing back yard.
Siglufjörður Iceland
I am still working my way through all my Iceland pictures trying to get them processed. At this point, I am part way through the fourth day of the trip. This has been a lazy Saturday for MJ and I. The weather outside is terrible and the snow just keeps falling. So I’ve been working on more Iceland pictures and processed this one today and thought I would share it with you. I took this near Siglufjörður Iceland on the north side of the country.
