Last week I was looking at photos on 500px.com, which isn’t uncommon for me. To my surprise I saw a picture that looked very familiar…… And it was. It turns out a photographer from Ukraine named Mikhail Benkovich used my HDR cruise ship photo. He combined my photo with a photo he took of this model to create an HDR composition.
I was pissed at first that he would steal my photo without permission. So I took a deep breath and contacted Mikhail directly about the situation. To his credit it admitted it and we worked out a little partnership. He modified the photo to give me credit and linked it to my site. So tonight I am posting the photo and linking to his site. After cooling off and communicating with Mikhail, I’ve gone from pissed off to being happy with how he took my great photo and merged it together with his great photo.
