More Liberty Pole Spirits

I hope you’re having a great weekend.  Not much happening on our end…. Here are some photos from my Liberty Pole Spirits photo shoot in early July.  If you haven’t visited their tasting room in downtown Washington PA, you’re missing out.

Washington's Street Art

I did a small photo walk today with Joe and Brad in downtown Washington Pennsylvania.  I also did a photo walk in this area a few weeks ago with Blair and Lisa.  Here is just a small sample of the street art that the City has sponsored to help improve the downtown.

Cresson Prison Tunnels

During our time at the abandoned Pennsylvania SCI (State Correctional Institution) Cresson prison facility, I spent a little time exploring the underground tunnels by myself.  No electricity, so my flashlight was the only light source.  Just a little creepy.

Razor Wire

Here is another photo from my recent exploration of the abandoned prison in central Pennsylvania.  The SCI Cresson campus is interesting for a number of reasons.  This photo isn’t the typical prison photo, if there is such a thing.  But I liked this perspective.

SCI Cresson

Yesterday I got a chance to explore the abandoned SCI (State Correctional Institution) Cresson campus in central Pennsylvania.  The State closed this prison in 2013.  Along with being a prison it was also a mental hospital in the past (before being a prison) and before that it was a TB sanatorium.  The sanatorium opened in 1912 after 500 acres was donated to the cause.  It was originally known as Allegheny Tuberculosis Sanatorium.

Towards the end of the day, I found the solitary confinement area of the prison.  All the cells had a normal prison bed, but not this one.  How bad do you have to be to get assigned to this cell?  I’m guessing very very bad.  I can’t imagine being chained to this bed.

Cloud Covered Pittsburgh

How was your week?  I’m glad the work week is over…. Happy thoughts the rest of the weekend is my only goal.  This photo represents a past happy moment when Blair and I were hanging out at the Point State Park taking photos and just talking.  If you look close, we’re the two people in front of the fountain.

Clemente Mural

Before we got snow in Pittsburgh this winter, Blair and I spent a little time in the Lawerenceville area photographing graffiti.  This one takes up the entire side of a building honoring the great Pittsburgh Pirate Roberto Clemente.

Happy Holidays

From my family to yours, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season and happy new year.

At this time of year, I always go back to photos I took of this church many years ago with Brad and Dave.  I like them because they are rich, and they scream winter holidays.  But it’s also because I haven’t taken many holiday photos over the years.

Governor's Visit

I never post anything about work, but we held a special event this week.  We had the honor of hosting PA Governor Tom Wolf at our COVID Vaccine clinic this week.  Following the tour, there was a press conference where Governor Wolf, PA State Representative Tim O’Neil and I all spoke.

Prior to the event, I awarded the first ever WHS Presidential Achievement coins to 18 WHS Team Members for their outstanding performance throughout the pandemic.  Not only did the Governor mention and congratulate each of them by name in his remarks, but he was very gracious with his time.  After the press conference, we went over and thanked each of them and posed for photos.  It was a great day for the Washington Health System.

Philly Cathedral

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving holiday.

Here is a photo I took of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, which sits on Logan Square in downtown Philadelphia.  I took this back in 2019.

Prison

Here is a photo I took a few years ago during our abandoned prison explore.  In case you’re wondering, we got permission and access to this site.  This specific wing of the prison was one of the newer areas.  The older areas looked like the classic old prison you’d expect.

Fall On The Trail

MJ and I went for a little hike on the Montour Trail in Washington County last weekend.  I dragged my camera along, because if I didn’t there would have been an amazing shot to take without a camera.  So, I carried it the entire walk and took a grand total of one photo and here it is…….

Flight 93 Museum

I’ve been holding this photo back for some time.  I have no reason why.  I loved the leading lines and the design of this structure.  This is the entrance to the Flight 93 Museum outside of Pittsburgh.  The building is great but the material inside is powerful and sad stuff.

PPG Skyview

Pittsburgh is a very pretty city.  Frankly, it’s underrated and should be a travel destination for those who’ve never been here before.  I took this photo looking down on the PPG building with Heinz Field and the three rivers in the background.

GW In The Sky

I got out last night attempting to capture the sunset with my drone in downtown Washington PA.  After the sun dropped below the horizon, I captured this great image of the George Washington statute on top of the Washington County Courthouse.  Love that sky!!
