Ben's Farewell

Tonight, is expected to be Ben Roethlisberger’s last home game with the Pittsburgh Steelers before he retires.  I’m not a Ben fan, but I can respect his talent and accomplishments.  After this season, the Steelers will be looking for their next quarterback, who they hope will be the next superstar.  There was almost 20 years between Terry Bradshaw and Ben.  For Steelers’ fans, let’s hope it doesn’t take another 20 years to find another Pro Bowl QB.

Will Steelers' Fans Ever See This Again

I took this photo of Ben Roethlisberger during 2018 NFL season…..  After his injury there wasn’t much time to capture this in the 2019 season.  So, the question is whether or not he’ll be able to throw the football in an NFL game again?  If he can’t, you won’t see him running out of the tunnel as a starter again.  I assume he’ll make it back, even if he is a shell of his old self.  @jasonpohuski on the other hand doesn’t think Ben will ever throw an NFL pass again.  We’ll see who is right this fall, assuming the NFL starts up again.

Simply Ben

This is a throw back to last season when Ben Roethlisberger was injured all season.  His beard got longer as the season progressed.  If we have a 2020 season, it’ll be interesting to see if he has healed completely or not.

The Season of Frustration

I captured this photo of Ben Roethlisberger at the beginning of the 3rd quarter following his injury.  The beginning of the season hasn’t started very well for the Steelers with Ben’s injury, Conor’s injury, two early losses and a bunch of tough games coming up.  No wonder, Ben looks so depressed in this photo.

The Steelers had their first 2018 home pre-season game today against the Titans.   I wasn’t sure whether or not I’d get my NFL Media Sideline Credential this season.  It’s a long story….but they came through and I picked them up today prior to the game.  So everything ended well.  I got the passes and photographed the game today.

Big Ben

It is cold and rainy today…..and if feels a little like a cold fall football weekend, even though it’s spring.  So I’m sharing a Big Ben photo.  I took this of Ben last fall during the Patriots game.  Ben wasn’t playing for some injury I’ve already forgotten about.  But he was pretending to be helpful.

Big Ben

I’m switching things up today.  No travel, architecture, or landscape photo.  Besides, football is a year round obsession in America.  I’ve never posted a picture of Big Ben (at least I don’t remember posting one of him), because frankly I don’t like him very much.  Great quarterback, but that doesn’t necessarily make him a great person or good role model.  Regardless, Steelers’ fans love him.  I’ve captured thousands of photos of him over the years covering the games for the Observer-Reporter newspaper.

So for the first time, I’m posting a picture of Ben Roethlisberger for your viewing pleasure.  I took this specific photo last season in Cleveland Ohio, when the Steelers were up there to play against the Browns.  It was bitter cold that day (20 mile an hour winds making it -20 degrees), but I dressed appropriately and was fine the entire time.  The Steelers won easily and went on to have a good season.  This photo was taken in pre-game.
