I took this photo while my Dad, MJ and I explored the city of Cusco Peru. We hada day to wander around on our own and enjoy this beautiful city. We found all kinds of cool little streets like this one. I love it.
Former YMCA
Blair and I were given a wonderful opportunity to photograph the inside of the former YWCA. It’s been abandoned for a number of years and will get completely renovated in the next year, as it becomes the home of Tripil (a local non-profit). They plan to renovate and restore most of the building to its original condition. I felt so honored that the agency trusted us and allowed us to photograph this wonderful local treasure. I can’t wait to see the structure after the renovation is complete.
Wonderful Aruba
Tonight photo is from the wonderful island of Aruba. I took this photo right on L.G. Smith Blvd. in downtown Oranjestad. We had a great time during our short stay in Aruba. We spent the afternoon driving UTVs across the desert landscape. It was one of many highlights from our trip.
Machu Picchu Pano
Tonight’s photo post if from Machu Picchu again. I’ve been working my way through our Peru trip. I’ve been processing lots of photos from this trip. And I have to say, the photos remind me of what a great trip it really was. I know my dad enjoyed it as well. Anyway, here is Machu Picchu again.
Disco Sitting Area
I know… I know. This is the 3rd photo in a row from our recent cruise. But I had such a good time and love the photos I captured. I hope you like them as well. This one is from inside the disco. It is a sitting area off the dance floor. I liked the way the lights cascade around the room.
Jogging Track
I took this photo very early in the morning long before most of the passengers woke up. This is the jogging track on the Carnival Breeze at sunrise. As you can see, it rained that night so everything was wet, which made the photo even better.
Carnival Sunset
Sorry that I’ve been absent. As you probably figured out, I was off taking photos. Tonight’s photo is from a recent cruise out of Miami. As we were leaving Miami, this Carnival cruise ship followed us out of the harbor. Lucky for me, the position of the ship, the sunset, and the city of Miami made for a great photo.
I love how simple this photo is. The subject, composition, and color are simple, but so beautiful. Anyway, I hope you like it as well.
Hot Air Balloon Shadow
This is a photo from our Sedona trip last spring. We went on a sunrise hot air balloon ride. I liked the shadow of our balloon on the side of a Sedona mountain.
Machu Picchu
Here is another great photo from our trip to Peru. This isn’t the typical view of Machu Picchu. That’s probably what I like best about it. It’s different. MJ and I explored every angle and aspect of the wonderful “must see” location.
Pittsburgh Light Trails
Last week, Brad, Dave, Blair and I went into Pittsburgh to take advantage of the warm weather and capture some great photos. We went to a location; we’ve never been to before for a slightly different perspective of the skyline. I hope you like it.
Farwell Building
Last November, Blair and I got a chance to explore Detroit for a short period of time. One of our stops was the Farwell building. The building wasn’t the most interesting I’ve ever been in, but this central atrium was wonderful. This building also had the most interesting access point. It involved rain, climbing, tight spaces, etc…. Anyway, I hope you like the photo.
Pittsburgh Skyline
I took this photo last summer with Michael Shilo Luzano. I met Michael in Peru and we setup a time for him and I to shoot together a few weeks later. We spent a good part of the day photographing many of Pittsburgh’s most popular spots. I particularly liked this photo from that day.
Peruvian Door
I took this photo in Puno Peru late in the afternoon while my dad and I were walking around town. I honestly don’t remember what building this is, but I loved the door.
Detroit Decay
Tonight I have an oldie for you. This photo is from a 2014 trip to Detroit with Jay. We spent the better part of 3 days photographing lots of spots including this location (Packard Plant). Fun times….
Cruise Port
We did a private island tour toward the end of our time on St. Maarten. I made the driver take us up to the top a hill, which had a gated community at the top. We couldn’t get into the neighborhood, but we got this great view. It was a wonderful stop on our tour that provided a view of the cruise port that most people don’t see. I hope you enjoy it.
St. Barts Church
On our trip to St. Barts, I darted into the St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church to capture some photos of the inside. I ran into the Parish Administrator (Philip), who gladly allowed me access. I was and still am appreciative because I captured this great image during those few moments. Thanks Philip!!
By the way, St. Barts is an outstanding place. I recommend you put it on your travel bucket list.
South Pool
On our last trip to NYC, we visited the 9/11 Memorial site for the first time. I captured a ton of photos from every angle trying to capture this wonderful memorial….at least until the anti-tripod police stopped me.
This is a “must see” location for every American.
World Literature Today
To be completely honest, I had never heard of this magazine before until very recently. I learned about them when they decided to feature one of my old photos in their March 2016 issue. I’m honored and happy to help them.
Fisher Body Plant
Here is another from the Fisher Body Plant in Detroit Michigan. It was a fun experience and cool to see so many other photographers in the same place at the same time. You can see my other post from this location here: http://brook-ward.com/blog/2015/11/28/fisher-body-plant-assembly-line
Carnegie Mellon University
On a recent photo walk with Brad and Dave, we were looking for something unique. Something that hasn’t been photographed a million times. That’s when we decided to photograph CMU. We got access to Baker Hall and I captured this amazing stairwell. The security guard told me that it is the best stairwell on the campus and I think he was right.
