Happy Thursday!! I hope you had a great day. I’m ready for Friday and the start of the weekend. I have some chores to do. Otherwise, my only “to do” this weekend is to photograph the Steelers game against the Chargers on Sunday night. So until then, here is a photo I took of Mike Tomlin earlier this year.

This isn’t my typical photo. First, I don’t normally include people especially tourist. Secondarily, it isn’t technically a good photo. But I liked how you get to see the entire scene with St. Peter’s Square in the foreground and St. Peter’s Basilica in the background. I loved the amazing architecture in Rome, especially in Vatican City.

I’ve posted photos from this spot a few times in the past. And I’ll probably post a few more in the future, because it is easily my favorite fountain in the world…. At least at this point. As you probably know, this fountain is in the Trevi district of Rome Italy. It is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and one of the most famous fountains in the world. They started renovations on the fountain to make it more grand in 1732 and finished the job in 1762. It was refurbished in 1988, 1998 and again in 2014. Thankfully the renovations just involved cleaning, repair and replacement of light. It’s hard to imagine they could improve the 1732 design.

Interestingly, like many famous tourist sites, it is covered with hundreds (maybe thousands depending on the time of day) tourists. So, getting a shot without people in the way is tough. Below is a behind the scene photo to give you an idea of what I mean.

This is my old drone and I. Blair took this photo for me about three months ago when I was doing a drone presentation/demo for the local camera club. As you can tell, we were at a park…. You can see the playground in the background.

I want my Detroit Lions to win so badly. And I don’t mean just a game, I want a deep run into the Playoffs or dare I say a Super Bowl win. Is that too much to ask for? Lions fans have suffered for far too long. I understand that the Lions troubles are tied directly to ownership and poor management decisions for years…. Poor draft choices, coaching decisions, selection of coaches, poor trades, etc….. but fans like myself shouldn’t have to deal with this ongoing pain. At least I don’t think so. So we need a little football magic to kick in this upcoming off-season and run through March of 2020…..
In the meantime, Lions fans just have to deal with the fact we have a nice stadium and a poorly performing organization. I took this photo last season, when the Steelers traveled to Detroit. I got to the game 5 hours in advance to photograph the stadium.

I love the shadows in this photo. We were walking around this abandoned children’s camp outside of Chernobyl. It had all these little cabins (maybe 20 of them) with cute murals painted on them. As we were walking back along the path towards our bus, this scene unfolded in front of me…… I had my camera all packed up and had to get it back out to capture this moment. I’m glad I did!!!

Can I go back to Bonaire tomorrow? You have no idea how badly I’d like to do that….but as we all know, life sometimes gets in the way. So going back to Bonaire in the near future isn’t in the cards for me. Therefore, I’ll have to rely on my Bonaire photos to fill the void. This one is from the Blow Hole located on the north side of the island in Washington Slagbaai National Park. I took a bunch of photos trying to capture the exact moment when the water was at its peak.

I feel like I missed fall this year. I don’t know if it was because of my work schedule, travel schedule or if I just blinked and missed it. Regardless, I missed it. Thankfully, we had nice weather this weekend.
Anyway, here is a fall photo I took, not this fall, down at Babcock State Park in West Virginia. It’s an amazing spot.

It’s chilly, gray and just boring outside today. Therefore, I’m posting this bright, yellow flower photo I took within the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, which sits at the eastern foot of Table Mountain in Cape Town South Africa. I can’t tell you what type of flower this is. Do you know?

How creepy is this spot??? Super creepy, if you ask me. I took this photo inside a school nurse’s office at an abandoned elementary school. Here is my question….why would an elementary school nurse’s office need an adult medical chair? Now that is creepy!!

It was chilly in my area this weekend, which makes we wish for either warmer weather or a trip to a warm weather spot. As I scrolled through photos looking for something to post, I had that in my head. Therefore, you’re getting this photo I took from the Bahamas. This was a great spot to spend the day, with the Caribbean Sea on one side and a beautiful lagoon on the other.

During our time on Bonaire, we passed this abandoned hotel a number of times. So on the last morning, Blair and I ran off to explore this beauty. When we arrived, this wonderful mural was awaiting us at the entrance.

The Panthers didn’t have a very good showing last night against the Steelers, but it was still fun seeing Cam Newton play in person. He’s a big dude when you’re standing next to him. I can see why Carolina is excited about him as their quarterback. Unfortunately for him, the Steelers sacked him 5 times last night and embarrassed his entire team.

I couldn’t tell you which building this was in, we explored so many and I saw numerous gyms. But I can tell you this is in the town of Pripyat, just outside the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Wow, what an experience!!!

I’m always continually amazed at how quickly time flies by. With that in mind, it’s hard to believe it has been over a month since we were in Bonaire. I want to go back. I loved this country. Just outstanding from every perspective. I’ve been dreaming about going back since the moment we left.
I don’t think I’ve ever shared a cell phone photo before, so this is a first. We went on a kayaking excursion towards the end of the week, so I didn’t take my camera. When we arrived at the kayaking launch spot, I found this massive drift wood. There was no way to pass this up without taking a photo, so I did with my phone. It’s not the best quality photo in the world, but I like it.

This guy blocked the road for probably 10 minutes forcing us to wait while he completed his business. Our driver tried to get him to move, but he wasn’t taking the hint. So we just waited, took a ton of photos and enjoyed the show. It’s hard to believe South Africa was a year ago…..how did that happen??
