The Season of Frustration

I captured this photo of Ben Roethlisberger at the beginning of the 3rd quarter following his injury.  The beginning of the season hasn’t started very well for the Steelers with Ben’s injury, Conor’s injury, two early losses and a bunch of tough games coming up.  No wonder, Ben looks so depressed in this photo.

Russell Wilson

It was a nice weather day at the stadium today.  The home crowd didn’t get the win they wanted, but the game was entertaining.  This was my first time covering the Seahawks.  It was fun seeing them up close and watching Russell Wilson ( @dangerusswilson ) do his thing.

Abandoned China Factory

It’s been a long week, do you agree?  I also have a busy weekend planned, what about you?  I hope you enjoy your weekend and upcoming week.

Tonight’s photo is from an abandoned china factory outside of Pittsburgh.  I loved the standing water in this area and the effect it has in this photo.

Never Forget!!

We’ve been to the 9/11 memorial in Manhattan, but we haven’t visited the Flight 93 Memorial, which is an hour from our house…. until recently.  It was pretty incredible and worth the visit.  It’s a nice tribute to the innocent lives lost on that flight and an emotional time.  I’m always touched by these moments and memories.

This is a photo I took of the memory wall inside the Flight 93 Memorial Museum.  It lists every individual who died at the Twin Towers, Pentagon and on Flight 93…

Stranded Ship

When I was in northern Michigan a few weeks ago doing some ship wreck scuba diving with my buddies, we came upon this beauty.  This is the front portion of a real Great Lake Freighter converted into waterfront building.  I don’t know if they’re using it as a cottage or some other purpose.  It was a unique find and this photo doesn’t do it justice.  This thing is big….taller then the adult pine and hard wood trees around it.   This was on the St. Mary’s River which connects Lake Superior to Lake Huron.

Majestic Sunrise

Its Friday night and I’m tired after the work week.  So this is a short post….. enjoy this majestic Mexican sunrise.  I took this photo during one of our past trips south of Cancun.  I enjoy getting up early to catch sunrise to capture these moments.  Have a great weekend.

The Herd

Looking through my feed, I noticed I haven’t posted any animal photos recently.  That got me thinking about our trip to South Africa, which lead me to this photo.  This was one of those magical moments that’s hard to explain.  This herd of elephants came down over the hill to drink and play in this river.  We sat there for a long time just watching the fun.   Just….well magical.

Bay of Kotor

Here is another photo from a past Europe trip where MJ and I ate to much gelato.  I don’t know what it is about Europe, but we eat to much of it on every one of our trips to that area.  We don’t routinely eat ice cream at home or on any other trips….. but Europe is gelato country for us.

Anyway, this is the Bay of Kotor with the city of Kotor, which is located in the country of Montenegro.  Beautiful little country.  This city is a fortified town on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast surrounded by limestone cliffs of Mt. Lovcen.  The city goes back to the medieval times and probably earlier.

Dubrovnik

We have another Mediterranean Cruise booked and as you can imagine, I’m looking forward to it.  This photo from inside the walled city of Dubrovnik was from our last open ocean Europe cruise.  I loved this spot.

Gulf Tower

We captured some photos in downtown Pittsburgh a few weeks ago.  My photo buddy posted his version of this building, so I’ll share my as well.  For those of you who don’t know, this is an iconic building in the Burgh and the colors change color based on the weather.

Rye Distillery

This photo is an old one that I took back in 2015, but I’ve never shared it.  This was an epic exploration of an abandoned Overholt Rye Distillery outside of Pittsburgh.  This was a tough shot to capture because it was a small and dark space.  But I wanted to capture the bottom of this structure.  This isn’t the best photo, but I like it.

Shazier

I took this photo a few weeks before Ryan’s injury back in 2017.  I haven’t seen or heard about him in a long time, but I’ve been thinking about him with the season starting.  So, I’ll send him a little virtual love here on my blog, hoping he’s still on the road to recovery.

Looking Up

I don’t know about you, but my life has been very busy over the last couple of years.  And know it has gotten worse lately, for the obvious reasons.  I love photography and sharing my photos/thoughts with you on this blog.  But it can be tough at times to keep this updated.  With that said, here is a photo for you and a very short narrative.

This is another photo from the Vessel in the Hudson Yards area of Manhattan.  This is from the inside looking up.
