I missed traveling to Europe in 2020. We actually had a couple of trips there that got canceled with everything else. Right now, those are rescheduled for 2021…we’ll see if they really happens.
This photo of the Danube River and the Hungarian Parliament building is from early 2019.
I took this photo during my sprint down to (and back) Cincinnati for the Bengals vs. Steelers game. The following morning before leaving town, I captured this photo of the top of the bridge looking back at downtown Cincinnati. Scroll down to see a video driving over the same bridge.
Jake and I had a nice quick trip down to Cincinnati to photograph the Steelers game against the Bengals a couple of weeks ago. I captured this photo the following morning before we traveled back to Pittsburgh. Below are a few others (one from inside the stadium just before kick-off and another drone photo the following morning).
I had no plan to photograph the moon last night, but it looked so bright. So, I ran out and snapped a few pics. Here you go……
This beautiful cathedral in downtown Bratislava, Slovakia was a cool spot to visit. It was built in the 13th century in a Gothic style. It is the oldest and largest cathedral in Bratislava. Nineteen Hungarian kings and queens were crowned inside this cathedral over the years. The church tower is part of the medieval fortress walls and has a gilded duplicate of the Hungarian crown on the top of the steeple.
This trip was in the spring of 2019, which we took with “The Neighbors” (Kris and Scott) which we booked via Gate1Travel.com. That was our 3rd trip with Gate1Travel and I’d travel with them again.
Here is a photo from a long, long time ago (last October….COVID time is like dog time). I took this while traveling in Old Mission Peninsula near Traverse City Michigan. There are a ton of vineyards, distilleries and places that make hard cider in this area. Not to mention, it is just beautiful…rolling hills, numerous peninsulas, Lake Michigan as the backdrop, fall color and much more. It was great getting back up there, since it’s probably been over 10 years since our last visit. Much too long.
I took this photo looking down on the Chateau Chantel vineyard/winery. They have an amazing spot, and it is worth a stop. Plus, the wine is great as well.
Here are a few GIFs I created this week from my photos at last Monday’s game. I realize I’m an old man and late to the game. These are the first GIFs I’ve ever made. Enjoy…
My Christmas wish is for all of you to have a safe and happy holiday season, along with a wonderful 2021.
Well, sort of…. Before everyone gets all upset…this is a composite photo. I took a photo of Pittsburgh and merged it with the Milky Way photo. We, of course, have this type of sky in Pennsylvania, we just can’t see it due to light pollution. So, it is “art” created by me, just not “art” captured via one photo.
So, before you get upset, remember it’s the Holiday Season and just enjoy it for what it is…. Happy Holidays.
I took a quick trip with Jake Mysliwczyk(down and back in 24 hours) to Cincinnati to photograph the Steelers’ game against the Bengals. That was my first time to Paul Brown Stadium. It was a nice trip and by total chance, we stayed at the same hotel as the Steelers (extra nice touch….thanks MJ).
Side note, Jake photographs the games for Pittsburgh Current. You can check out his work at the following spots:

Good time had by all, except for the Steelers, of course. More photos below……
I’ll be covering the Steelers road game in Cincinnati tonight for the Observer Reporter (OR) newspaper. The OR has been great to me over the years. I’ve photographed the Steelers from the sidelines for them for nine years. In preparation for Monday Night Football (Steelers vs. Bengals), I’m sharing this footage from when the Bengals were in Pittsburgh earlier this season.
Amazing camera and weapon cases from @nanukcases. Starting from the top going to the bottom you have the tiny (at least compared to the others) Nanuk 310, which is great for holding small items. Then a bunch of camera cases 935 (gray color), 935 (orange version), 955 (black) and an orange colored 960 case. And of course, the Nanuk 990 designed for holding an AR15 is standing up on the left.
If you’re looking for a hard sided case to protect your gear (cameras, laptops, weapons, drones, stabilizers, first-aid, etc…) you can’t find a better-quality brand to purchase. This best quality for the best price. There is a better-known brand, but the price and quality aren’t as good.
You can find them all here: https://nanuk.com/
I took this photo a year ago in downtown Pittsburgh at First Presbyterian…. They do a nice job decorating the church for the holidays.
Short and simple….I’d rather be here.
I captured this photo about a year ago on the island of Bonaire looking out at the island of Klein Bonaire.
Another photo from PPG Place in downtown Pittsburgh…..
I had a great little road trip to Buffalo last weekend. I drove up Sunday afternoon and arrived in time to photograph the Sunday Night Football game. Afterwards, I crashed at a hotel and then drove back first thing Monday morning. I was up and back in less than 24 hours.
It was a cold, but not freezing night, with some light flurries in the first half of the game. The Steelers didn’t play well, and the Bills took advantage of that to capture the win. If we’re all honest about it, the Bills are a very good, maybe great, team. Here is a small sample of the 5,000+ that I took before, during and after the game.
Scroll down to see more photos from this game.
I don’t remember the name of this Sedona rock formation but capturing them at sunset from the airport is a very popular activity. We had to fight the crowd to get a spot to shoot and watch the sun go down. I think this trip was back in 2017.
Geez, I miss travel. Well, I miss everything that used to be normal. This Bull Elephant posed for us inside Kruger National Park (South Africa) during one of our safaris. He stood on the road looking at us, making noise, flapping his ears, and looking tough. I think this was in October of 2017….seems like two decades ago!!
I’m posting this photo today, because it reflects how I feel right now…. I think I’m just getting tired and it’s been a long year for all of us. I’ll be better tomorrow.
By the way, I captured this photo in August when the Shutter Rush Team (Jason, Blair and I) explored an abandoned performing arts theater in Pittsburgh. The footage from that weekend explore will be in the next Shutter Rush film (currently in production). The first two documentary films are currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
