Yesterday I posted a photo from an Icelandic turf church. That photo was taken a few miles down the road from the hotel (Hofsstaðir Guesthouse) we used. Behind the hotel is a beautiful valley and fjord called Skagafjörður. I took this photo the morning we checked out looking over Skagafjörður.
Grafarkirkja
This turf structure is the oldest church in Iceland. It is located on the north side of the country (Skagi Peninsula) near the village of Hofsos. Parts of the turf church date back to the 17th century. Turf structures like this were often used during that time for houses, churches, and businesses. Weird fact, this church is the only one in Iceland with a circular turf-wall around the graveyard and the church.
Nanuk & Cigars
For the record, I’m not a smoker and don’t recommend it for anyone. That said, Blair likes Cigars and I recorded, edited and created this for him, which features his Nanuk 935 case and cigars. He isn’t a country music fan, but I thought the song worked….
Rusty Stairwell
I must be getting old. It seems like I can’t remember photo locations lately. I think this was taken within an abandon WV lunatic asylum, but I’m not sure…. Sad, I know.
Taughannock Falls
Here is a photo I look last weekend in the Finger Lakes area of New York. This is a wonderful State Park with this large waterfall.
Somewhere in Mexico
I honestly don’t remember where I took this photo. It was around Cancun somewhere, either south or north of the city. Regardless, I like the colors and warmth of this photo. Just looking at it, creates a desire to go back… like right now!!
Old Mission Peninsula
Here is a photo I took last fall with my drone from Old Mission Peninsula in northern Michigan. I thought missed the fall colors, but when we got up there it was perfect as you can see.
Crossing The Danube
I loved Budapest and really want to go back. But as we all know, that’s not likely to happen in today’s COVID world. I captured this photo during our European river cruise using my drone.
Mr. Rogers
Short post tonight. Here is the back of the Mr. Rogers statue which faces downtown Pittsburgh…..
Vik Myrdal Church
This is an iconic photo location in Vik Iceland. There is a little hill above the church allowing for this great perspective.
Layers Of Water
I took this photo a few months ago during sunrise at the Point State Park. The water fountain at the “point” can make for some great photo opportunities throughout the day. Plus, you have the river in the background, which adds another layer of depth to the photo.
Buggs
Isaiah Buggs is a defensive end for the Steelers after being drafted by them in 2019. Prior to joining the Steelers, he attended and played football at the University of Alabama. The first photo is from Buffalo on September 12th. The second photo is from last Sunday (September 19th) at Heinz Field when the Steelers were hosting the Raiders.
Steelers vs Raiders Game Action
It was a great week 2 game at Heinz Field. Here are a few action photos I captured from the Raiders win (sorry Steelers fans).
Dyrholaey
On both of our trips to Iceland, we hit up this spot along the Atlantic Ocean to watch Puffins. This photo is from our 2021 trip. This small peninsula has great views, tall cliffs, a lighthouse, puffins, and a large arch of volcanic rock in the ocean.
Bagger Mayhem Racing
Last weekend was filled with sports photography. I covered the Steelers at Bills game on Sunday. The day before I was in Garrettsville Ohio covering motorcycle racing. The Bagger Mayhem Racing Team invited me over to cover them. Here is Brian who is the co-team owner and primary driver. They have another driver in training, a couple of mechanics and a great sponsor in Hard Drive Parts.
Faces Of The Game - Non Team Member Edition
The emotion I discussed during my post at each game carries over to everyone else in the stadium as well. Plus, you find some of the most unusual outfits. Here are some photos from last Sunday of others in the stadium.
Faces Of The Game
One of the things I like about sports and photographing sports is the emotion involved. Everything from extremely happy to extreme sad. The full range emotions are on display throughout every game.
Here are a few photos from last Sunday’s game (Steelers at Bills) that display what I’m talking about.
Diontae's TD
It was great covering the Steelers-Bills game yesterday in Buffalo for a few reasons. First, it was great to get the season started. Second, the environment was fun to experience. I’ll admit the Bills fans seemed louder than I normally experience in Pittsburgh.
Diontae Johnson made this acrobatic touchdown catch in the 4th quarter right in front of me. Sometimes I’m lucky to be in the right spot at the right time.
I’ll share more photos from the game later this week.
Ready For Some Football???
The NFL season started last night with the Thursday night game (Tampa Bay vs. Dallas). Most of the games are on Sunday and I’m happy to kick off my season as well. I’ll be in Buffalo photographing the Bills vs. Steelers game for the media…. I’ve been covering the Steelers for over a decade as a representative of the Observer Reporter newspaper.
I’m very excited to get my season started…. It should be great environment with the Bills crazy fans. Let’s Go!!
Clemente At Dawn
I took this photo last Saturday when I met Brad Truxell downtown for the sunrise. This is the Clemente Bridge.
