This waterfall is located in the canyon of Hvítá river
in southwest Iceland. It is one of
the most popular tourist attractions in the country. Together with Pingvellir and the geysers of Haukadalur,
these three attractions make the Golden Circle. The circle route is a popular day tour for many tourists.
Then you first arrive and at first glace, the river appears to vanish into the earth. When you walk down to the falls, you can see the river falls down into the canyon below. Unfortunately, on the day we toured this site, the wind was blowing the mist right into our face. This made getting a good photograph very difficult. I couldn’t keep the front of the lens dry.
To get an idea of scale, if you look closely, you can see people standing near the falls. When you see the people, you can appreciate how large these falls are. Just an amazing location.
