New York Times

We had a great trip to NYC in August.  MJ and I explored parts of the city we’ve missed in past visits.  But one of our routine stops is always Gray Papaya Hot Dogs.  Close to the mid-town location is the New York Times building.  I’ve never really paid much attention to it in the past.  It’s simple, clean, beautiful!!

Vessel TKA

As you may already know, due to MJ’s FB post, we’ve been in NYC the last couple of days.  This was one of our first stops upon arriving in the Manhattan.  We explored this cool structure that is part art and part observation deck in the newly redeveloped Hudson Yards.

A few facts about this structure:  It rises 16 stories and consists of 154 flights of stairs in a honeycomb pattern.  There are 2,500 steps and 80 landings for visitors to climb.  The final cost was near $200 million to build and is currently going by the title of Vessel TKA.  TKA stands for Temporarily Known As because they don’t have a permanent name for it yet.  The owners have a website dedicated to the public helping with the final name.  The Vessel opened in March 2019.

As you can probably guess, I took a ton of photos from all angles….inside, outside, down low, up high, etc…

City Nights

I’m starting to work through my Chernobyl photos.  It’s going to take me a very long time, but I like what I’m seeing so far.  But I need to mix it up and not give you too many Ukraine photos in a row.

Tonight, I have a Big Apple sunset photo for you.  MJ was extremely good that night waiting for me to get the perfect photo.

City With A View

Its been a while since I posted a NYC photo and its been a while since my last visit to the Big Apple.  Maybe I’ll try to fit a visit in next year.  I know I can’t fit it into my 2018 travel schedule.  At this point, 2018 is full and 2019 is starting to fill up as well.  We’ll see what I can do.  By the way, I think this view from Brooklyn is amazing.

Mac To PC

After using Mac computers for well over a decade, I recently decided to switch back to a PC.  I didn't really want to do it, I loved my Mac computers.  And if I'm honest, I miss my Mac after the switch.  But frankly, I was getting mad at the idea of paying top dollar for a Mac that Apple hasn't updated in years.  Apple has taken their eye off the ball and hasn't upgraded their computers.  I couldn't justify paying for something that was at least 2 years outdated before it is taken out of the box.

So I purchased a Dell to maximize my dollar.  My new PC is faster, more efficient and has more memory for less money then any Mac.  I left my beloved Mac for a PC.....  Apple just needs to get their act together!!!

My new Dell is just as pretty as any Mac, But I also purchased a dBrand skin to give it a little character and protect it.  See the photos below.

Pepsi

First, let me say that I am truly sorry.  I disappeared from my website and all my social media sites since September 20th.  As you’ve probably guessed, I’ve been extremely busy with my work and my volunteer activities.   Many of you came back day after day, looking to see if I posted a new update.  I appreciate all your help and I’m sorry I made you wait.

Second, today’s post is from NYC.  This huge sign (look at the people walking below it) is positions on the East River facing back towards Manhattan (across from the United Nations Building).  I used to drink a ton of Pepsi, so this sign caught my eye.

Manhattan Bridge

I like NYC a lot.  Do I love it???  Maybe.  But I think I’d need a few more visits on top of the past visits, before I could claim to love it.  Regardless, I enjoyed by time in the Big Apple and would like to go back.

During my last visit, I spent some time alone at night photographing the Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline.  This was one of the first photos I took that evening as I walked across the bridge to Brooklyn.

Big Apple Sunset

As I process photos, I jump around.  I almost never process all the photos from one location all in a row.  I’ll process some from NYC, then Peru, then Pittsburgh, etc….  I like the variety and it keeps me from processing a location the same way.  Plus it is a nice reminder to me as I process photos how wonderful my travels have been.  I don’t forget the trips as fast and I can relive the moments.  Well tonight’s photo is from the top of Rockefeller Center in Manhattan.  MJ was a super trooper.  She displayed amazing patience as we stayed on the top of this skyscraper for almost 3 hours as we waited for the sunset and stayed up there long afterward.

NYC Public Library

Today’s photo is from our last trip to New York City.  One of our stops on that trip was the Library.  I know, I know.  The Library!!  But look at this architecture.  How could I skip this facility?  It’s a great example of what we, humans, are capable of creating.  If you like this type of thing and get to NYC, make this free location a “must do.”

Grand Central Terminal

MJ and I had a great trip to New York City.  The weather was nice, the people were polite and the attractions are always outstanding.  Like normal, we packed a ton of activities into a short stay, but it was worth it.  On the first night, I got really lucky while I was out photographing Grand Central Station.

I was lined up in the middle of the road shooting right down Park Avenue towards the terminal trying to get a photo without too much traffic or people….. And the City of New York decided to help me out.  At that moment, they parked a construction vehicle in the middle of the road to block all traffic just for me (or to start some construction).  Anyway, that meant I had full use of the street all to myself.  I could take my time.  Shoot from different angles.  Not worry about being run over by a taxi.  It was great.  Plus I met a Russian (now a U.S. citizen) who was photographing the same area.  Great first night in the big apple.

So I got this great photo and you get to see it.

Apple In The Big Apple

I took this photo at the Apple store at the southeast corner of Central Park in New York City about a month ago.  This entire store is under the street level plaza.  The only thing above ground is this glass cube with a spiral staircase and elevator going down to the store.
