Here is a photo from Memorial Day morning. It was a wonderful blue hour down along the river. The water was so calm that it helped make the photo better.
Heinz Field
I took this photo last spring before they changed the name to Acrisure Stadium. I’m not sure why I didn’t share the photo until now. Oh well, here you go.
Clemente Bridge Sidewalk
Brad dragged me out of the house on a recent, very cold morning to take some photos, which turned out great. I didn’t love getting up at 530am, but we had a good time. Big thanks to Brad.
I captured this photo on the Clemente Bridge that morning.
Pittsburgh Dawn
This photo isn’t from today (Christmas day), but it could have been. It has been overcast with no snow here for most of December. Regardless, it’s a beautiful city and photo. Have a great holiday weekend.
Layers Of Water
I took this photo a few months ago during sunrise at the Point State Park. The water fountain at the “point” can make for some great photo opportunities throughout the day. Plus, you have the river in the background, which adds another layer of depth to the photo.
Pre-dawn Confidante Hotel
MJ and I spent a week here in January to escape work, COVID (well sort of), and life. Lots of lounging by the pool that week. I captured this photo a few minutes before sunrise one morning. Nice hotel and location.
Downtown Pittsburgh Hyperlapse
Here is a short drone time lapse video (what DJI calls Hyperlapse) of downtown Pittsburgh from the Fort Pitt Bridge back down the Allegheny River. I captured this last Sunday morning before sunrise.
Miami Beach Lookdown
I took this drone photo right after sunrise near Mid-Beach. You can see a few people walking on the beach along with the seagulls. I love the colors, textures, layers and patterns in this photo.
Faena Mammoth
I found this beauty, pre-trip while doing research of cool photography spots around Miami Beach. I almost always research photo spots before traveling. Anyway, I found this guy and put him on my “Photo Wish List”. I did something at this spot that I don’t think I’ve ever done. I went back to this spot three different times in 30 hours, trying to photograph it in the best light. This first time I went, it was late in the afternoon and all I got was reflections off the glass from the sun, which I should have thought about in advance. The second time was right before sunrise the next morning, when I captured this photo. I couldn’t stay as long as I wanted (I was hoping to capture it closer to sunrise), but security ran me off. So, I thought I missed an opportunity and probably didn’t get any good photos. Therefore, I went back again later that day right before sunset, hoping to capture a good shot. I used polarizing filters, wide angle lens, zoom lens, and many other technics to minimize the glare off the glass. Turns out the best time was this shot before sunrise. At least that was the best shot I captured, I’m sure a better photographer would have captured this better all three times.
Note: Artist Damien Hirst created this with a real mammoth skeleton, gold PVD covered stainless steel, powder-coated steel, rubber and gold leaf. You don’t see many Mammoth Skeletons in many hotels….but they have one at the Faena Hotel Miami Beach.
Cincinnati Suspension Bridge
Gosh, I hope you have a great weekend. I know I needed the break this weekend.…
I had an entire COVID vaccine blog post typed tonight in regard to how people are acting. I shared it with MJ and she immediately said, “I’m sure that felt good to write, but delete it immediately!!”
Fort Pitt Bridge
I took this photo of sunrise in downtown Pittsburgh a few months ago when I was out with Brad and Blair. I used my DSLR camera to capture this, but I also took a ton of photos with my drone that morning. I still take more photos with my DSLR camera, but increasingly I take more and more photos with the drone. I hope your weekend has been great and that you enjoy what’s left of your Sunday.

Durban Hotel Patio
How was your week? I had an extremely busy week at work with a number of long days. But that’s over and its now time to relax.
Tonight’s photo is from our South Africa trip. I took this on rainy morning on the patio of our Durban city hotel which sat along the coast. A combination of the dawn darkness, rain and weird lights on the patio created this unique perspective.

Palm Tree Reflections
Another photo from the Grand Bahia Principle resort near Tulum Mexico. I took this photo this yesterday morning just after the sunrise, but before the morning shadows disappeared. We’ve had a great time, but if I was rating this resort…… well, I’d rather not say. Anyway, I always enjoy getting up early on vacation to catch sunrise photos and I try to get creative so that it isn’t always the same standard view of the ocean with a large ball of orange in the distance.

Seattle At Dawn
Here is a 25-exposure panorama of Seattle At Dawn. I went to this spot the night before and took some pictures after dark. I liked it so much, I returned the very next morning before sunrise to get this picture.
