I don’t think I’ve ever done a selective color photo before….if I have, I just blanked it from my memory. Anyway, here is a photo of the Fort Pitt Bridge in downtown Pittsburgh. This was a very gray cloudy day, so I had to do something unique with the photo to make it interesting…. Enjoy your weekend.
Morning Traffic
Here is a photo I took about a month ago in downtown Pittsburgh. Coming out of the tunnel and crossing this bridge is the best entrance to any city in the world…. Of course, with a worldwide pandemic, the traffic was very light on this morning.

Tunnel Exit
Exiting the Fort Pitt Tunnel gives you one of the best instant city views I’ve ever found. You immediately get an amazing view of Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, this photo doesn’t really do it justice….

My Morning View
After months of nothing but hiding at home and going to work, I finally got off my butt to take some photos. Gosh, I missed it so much…. I think the stress of world events and my work have just made me tired. It’s probably made most people tired. So, I got out with Brad and took this photo this morning. After I got home, MJ and I did a little yard work. Afterward, I went with Blair to shoot trap. Plus, MJ and I got a little time together as well. And we capped off the day by watching a corny romantic movie. It was a good Sunday!!

Ostentor
This is the spectacular East Gate for the city of Regensburg Germany. Today is serves more as a historical landmark and a reminder of great architecture from many years gone by.

Fort Pitt
Or what’s left of it…. The original British fort from the mid-1700s during the French and Indian War was constructed in the area that is now downtown Pittsburgh. The outline of the Fort Pitt walls are all that remain of the fort, which sits inside Point State Park. This is a great city park at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny rivers and the start of the Ohio river (thus 3 Rivers).

Fort Pitt Bridge
I need to think about some happier moments right now. There are to many negative things in the news and around us all every day at the moment. We all need a little positivity. So, I’m posting the sunrise photo from last spring in downtown Pittsburgh.

Fort Pitt Bridge
I took this photo of sunrise in downtown Pittsburgh a few months ago when I was out with Brad and Blair. I used my DSLR camera to capture this, but I also took a ton of photos with my drone that morning. I still take more photos with my DSLR camera, but increasingly I take more and more photos with the drone. I hope your weekend has been great and that you enjoy what’s left of your Sunday.

Fort Pitt Bridge and The City
I took this sunrise photo a few weeks ago when I was downtown with Brad and Dave. Not much I can say about it…. Just your typical downtown sunrise photo.
For those of you not from Pittsburgh, this is the Monongahela River, Fort Pitt Bridge, and downtown Pittsburgh on the left. The best view of the city, in my opinion, is when you come out of the Fort Pitt Tunnel and immediately enter this bridge. At that point, you get an amazing view of the city. #TheBestCityView

Sangrias
During our last trip through Fort Lauderdale Florida, MJ and I had lunch at this beach side restaurant and bar. To my surprise, they had an huge neon Yuengling inside the place. So getting a Yuengling was tempting, but I went with this extra large drink instead.

Pittsburgh Sunset
I understand this is an usual sunset photo. But it is in fact a sunset pic. I took this while on a photo walk with Jay, Brad, and Dave. We were taking photos along the train tracks as the sun set behind us with the sun reflecting off the buildings. I processed this photo a couple of times until I got a version that I liked.
Have a great Labor Day.
One last thing...don't for get to click on the photo below to see it in a larger format. This small version doesn't do it justice.
Fort Duquesne Bridge 2
Fort Duquesne Bridge
Earlier this week, I took a quick trip into Pittsburgh to capture some photos…. You know how it goes (or maybe you don’t), if I haven’t taken any photos in a while I get a little antsy… Can you say photography addiction? To the point, I was outside at below freezing temperatures to take pictures. That’s crazy addicted! Anyway, the first step is admitting I have a problem. So, I met a few other addicted folks (Dave and Brad) and we took some photos.
This is one I captured under the Fort Duquesne Bridge that crosses the Allegheny River before it joins the Monongahela River to form the Ohio River, which as you know eventually helps form the Mississippi River near Cairo Illinois.
Fort Necessity National Battlefield
Before I tell you anything about this photo, I wanted to say that I posted this picture for Randy. Randy is a co-worker who enjoys reenactments like this….so here’s to you Randy.
I took this picture about a week ago at Fort Necessity National Battlefield in Fayette County Pennsylvania. This is part of the U.S. National Park Service and preserves the battlefield. This battle (July 3, 1754) was early in the French and Indian War, and resulted in the surrender of British Colonial forces under the command of Colonel George Washington….. a first of many losses for a young George.
This young WVU student volunteer put on a musket demonstration and as you can see I captured the moment.
Castillo San Felipe del Morro
I got lazy tonight and almost forgot to post a photo. I think because I had such a great day
with MJ today, I just forgot.
We didn’t do much… went out for lunch, went shopping, took care of a few
things around the house and watched a movie. But I enjoyed all of it.
So because I didn’t plan ahead, you’re getting another vacation picture. But who are we kidding; you’ll be seeing lots of them in the future. There are to many great photos from my last trip. This picture is of Castillo San Felipe del Morro Fort in Old San Juan at sunset. I love this picture. By the way, the composition of this picture was MJ’s idea.
Atlantic Spotted Dolphin
There are times, when I wish I could just get in the water
and dive. I’ve been lucky over the
years with opportunities to dive in a ton of great warm water locations such as
Bermuda, Guadalupe Island, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Bahamas, Mexican Cenotes, La
Paz, Roatan Island Honduras, Curacao, Aruba…just to name a small few. I’ve also been very lucky to have had
experiences diving all kinds of ship wrecks in a number of Great Lakes places
like Mackinaw Straits, Whitefish Point, Lexington, Munising, etc….. In short, they have all been amazing in
their own way and I truly love diving.
When I can combine my three favorite hobbies of scuba diving,
photography and travel together; it is even better…especially if my wife (and
best friend) is with me.
I got to dive at Christmas while we were in Miami, but sitting here tonight, diving is all I can think about. I wish I could go tonight, but it will have to wait until my next trip, which includes stops in places like St. Maarten, St. Kitts, and St. Lucia. I know I’ve got some great diving ahead of me…. I just need to wait…. So in the mean time, I’ve been looking through some of my diving pictures. Which probably doesn’t help my desire to dive tonight.
So tonight’s picture is of a wild Atlantic Spotted Dolphin that I took a picture of while on an ocean crossing aboard a charter dive boat going from Fort Lauderdale to the west end of Bahamas. As we were traveling, we saw a pod of five dolphins swimming near our boat. That’s all it took, we grabbed our mask, fins, and snorkel (I also grabbed my camera) and we all jumped in the water. We got a wonderful 30 minutes of playtime with the dolphins. They stayed until they got bored of us and then took off. It was a great life experience and I’ll remember it always.
