Steelers vs Chargers 2024

Some of my favorites from the Steelers vs. Chargers game.

WVU vs Drexel

The world has been spinning very fast lately. So, I haven’t been posting here much. Sorry!!

Here are a are some photos from yesterday’s WVU vs. Drexel game.

Two Sides of Joe Haden

I didn’t go to the Steelers vs. Titans game today.  I’ve been dealing with a cold for two weeks, so I skipped it.  It didn’t seem like a smart idea to sit outside for 6 hours in the near freezing temperature while I’m fighting this small illness.  I’ve made good use of the extra time and have been editing NFL photos much of the day.

Here is an unusual edit from a photo I took of Joe Haden during the Steelers-Bears game about a month ago.

Steelers at Vikings

Last week I had a very busy couple of days.  I traveled to Minnesota to photograph the Steelers/Vikings game on Thursday Night Football.  Then very early Friday morning, I traveled from there to California to photograph the Bagger Racing League event at the Sonoma Raceway.  The Bagger Mayhem Racing team invited me to be a part of their race team for the weekend.  Along with Jake, I photographed the practice sessions, the races, behind the scenes (garage, pits, etc..) and ran their social media for the weekend.  I’ll have a bunch of these photos for you later.  Then I traveled back on Sunday…. Needless to say, I was tired when I got home.

Tonight, I have a bunch of Steelers/Vikings photos for you.

Freiermuth's Drop

It has been a crazy busy month.  I haven’t been posting routinely…frankly, I haven’t even thought about positing.  Sorry about that, I’ve just been running hard with work activities.

Anyway, a week ago I went to Minnesota to cover the Steelers at Vikings game on Thursday Night Football.  That was my first time at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.  I must say it is an amazing facility.  I was very impressed.

I’ll post more photos from this game later, but for now here is the very last play of the game.  With time running out, the Steelers threw the pass into the End Zone to Tight End Pat Freiermuth.  If he had made the catch; the Steelers would have tied the game and they would have gone into Overtime.  But he was hit by three defenders at the same time and the football popped out of his hands.  This is the conclusion of that play, and you can see the ball slipping away from him.  I’m sure that was heartbreaking for him.

Pics from tonight’s game.

More F1

I’ve been working my way through all the photos I took during the FIA Formula 1 US Grand Prix.  Of the 27k photos, I selected a little over a 100 to edit.  Here are a few I edited yesterday.

Bagger Mayhem Racing

Last weekend was filled with sports photography. I covered the Steelers at Bills game on Sunday. The day before I was in Garrettsville Ohio covering motorcycle racing. The Bagger Mayhem Racing Team invited me over to cover them. Here is Brian who is the co-team owner and primary driver. They have another driver in training, a couple of mechanics and a great sponsor in Hard Drive Parts.

Pete Carroll

We’re one week away from the start of the NFL regular season.  I’m ready, are you?

For the second year in a row, COVID is messing up the NFL season (along with our entire world) and once again due to COVID restrictions, I’ll need to get game media credentials on a game-by-game basis.  I’ve been very fortunate in the past and was granted season access.  They’ve limited media access, which is completely understandable.

So, I probably won’t be covering every game this season, but I’m hopeful I’ll get to photograph many of them.  This will be my tenth year covering the Steelers…. I’ve been very lucky (I also work pretty darn hard, but also very lucky) ….in my career, relationships, photography and in life generally.  I’m grateful!!

By the way, I took this photo of Seattle Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll during the 2019 season.  Have a great football season.  I hope your team wins.

AFC Super Bowl Selection

This isn’t my prediction about who will most likely play in the Super Bowl (that would probably be the Chiefs) from the AFC, but the team I’d like to see make it to the big game.

My selection is the Buffalo Bills.  Why?  Because:

·      They have a nice group of young talented players and I like the modest attitudes

·      I liked their old-style stadium which sits surrounded by residential houses

·      They’ve played in four Super Bowls, but have never won the game….

Wild Card Weekend Face Off

There are three more Wild Card Playoff games today.  I won’t be covering the Steelers vs. Browns tonight (real bummer) due to the NFL’s COVID restrictions they allow a limited number of media into the stadium and my name wasn’t selected via their process.  So, I’ll be at home watching games.

Here is a photo I took in Cleveland during Week 17 this season.

Martavis

Tonight’s post is a throwback to 2018.  This is Martavis Bryant in 2017 before he was traded to the Raiders.  Shortly after getting to Raiders he dramatically hurt his career by getting an indefinite suspension for violating the NFL’s drug policy…. At this point, he hasn’t been reinstated yet.  Extremely sad since he is talented.

Intensity

For Sunday night, I have a flashback football photo that I took last season.  I captured this when the Ravens were in Pittsburgh.  This shot of Robert Griffin III (RG3) demonstrates his intensity.  You have to wonder what his career would have been like if the Redskins had managed him and his injury correctly.  Potentially Hall of Famer but that was then, now he’ll never be viewed in that light.  If you think about it, he was the Patrick Mahomes before Patrick Mahomes.  Ruined potential.

1933

Something different for you tonight.  I’ve been on a roll of posting dark photos lately. Anyway, here is a Mike Tomlin photo for you from last season.  It was the NFL’s 150th anniversary last year, therefore they had all teams wear gear with the year they were created….. For the Pittsburgh Steelers it’s 1933.
