Wild Card Weekend Face Off

There are three more Wild Card Playoff games today.  I won’t be covering the Steelers vs. Browns tonight (real bummer) due to the NFL’s COVID restrictions they allow a limited number of media into the stadium and my name wasn’t selected via their process.  So, I’ll be at home watching games.

Here is a photo I took in Cleveland during Week 17 this season.

NFL Cleveland Browns Run Out

I know, I know…. As a photographer who covered the Pittsburgh Steelers for the local media, I’m not supposed to care about the opposite team.  But I often find them more interesting then the Steelers.  Maybe because I see the Steelers all the time.  Anyway, here are the Cleveland Browns as they run out onto the field prior to last Thursday Night’s game.  I captured this with my iPhone while I took photos of the team with my camera.

Line Of Scrimmage

Here is a photo from last season’s Steelers game in Cleveland.  There is just something about the line of scrimmage in football games.  That’s the battleground on the field.  When the players are lined up helmet to helmet waiting for the play to start, you can feel the tension.  Of course, the Browns don’t put up much of a challenge for the Steelers.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving in the United States is a day to celebrate family and friends while being thankful for everything we have.  It has also become a tradition to have turkey lunch or dinner, while watching American Football.   There are three games today.  One of the games is the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the Colts .

Ready To Run:

Le’Veon Bell has been a monster running back since entering the NFL.  Heck, he was a monster running back in college at Michigan State University.  He was probably a monster running back in high school, middle school, grade school, and as a toddler.  I wish he was on my favorite team (Detroit Lions).  Anyway, the point is that he is good at his job.

I took this picture last weekend in Cleveland, when the Steelers beat up on the Browns.

Sack

The Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns game in Cleveland yesterday was an interesting experience.  There were numerous story lines from the game.  One of them was all the sacks the Steelers inflicted on the Browns’ quarterbacks.   This photo is one from the first half of the game.  Frankly, they all looked like they hurt to me.

You can tell it was a rough day for the Browns by looking at this helmet.

Antonio Brown

Here is another picture from last Sunday’s game.  As everyone knows, I am not a Steelers fan, since my favorite team is the Lions.  But I have to admit, Antonio Brown is a great player.  He is exciting, dynamic, and just fun to watch.

If you look closely, you can see QB Ben Roethlisberger in the background.  Antonio has a long run after the pass from Big Ben.

The Touchdown That Wasn’t

This play happened in the first quarter of the Steelers vs. Browns game yesterday at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.  I was covering the game from the sideline for a local newspaper.  I am very blessed this year, since the paper got me the entire season sideline media pass.

Anyway, I was in the back corner of the end score and it appeared I was in the exact right spot to capture the touchdown.  And I was, except for the fact that LeGarrette Blount (#27 – Steelers Running back) didn’t make the catch.  By the way, on the next play, the Steelers scored on the opposite side of the end zone…..  That’s football photography for you.

Regardless, I really liked this photo.  It’ll never make the cover of Sports Illustrated or even get used by a newspaper.  But I liked the way the picture has a 3D appearance (very little editing…more on that in a second), you can see the players fighting for the ball and the ref is in the background watching closely.

Editing…. I know what you’re thinking.  That I edited the photo a bunch to make it appear 3D.  Not true….  It was so bright in the afternoon sun, that I lowered the exposure slightly and then did a little cropping.  Otherwise, this is right out of the camera.

Now…I’ll going to post this and enjoy the rest of Monday Night Football.  Go Lions!!!!
