It’s hard to beat the view from Mt. Washington looking down on Pittsburgh. Day or night, amazing view. I took this photo a few months ago while I was out shooting with Theaterwiz and Robert. This isn’t your typical perspective from this spot, but I was going for different.

I took this photo last October when Blair and I explored Chernobyl and the Exclusion Zone. We had a great visit. This is from the Pripyat city center. The building in this photo is the center piece of city center and was the cultural center. It has a pool, gym, theater, boxing ring and many other rooms inside it. Directly behind it, is where the carnival was setup before the nuclear disaster. All of the carnival rides including the Ferris wheel, still sit there today. Unfortunately for the citizens of Pripyat, the carnival never happened.
Prior to our Chernobyl trip, I noticed this is a frequently photographed building. So I was determined to capture it in a different way. Therefore, I climbed up on the roof of this walkway to capture it from this perspective.

1, 2, 3….quick post tonight….here we go. This beautiful bridge is in Washington County Pennsylvania. It is unclear when this popular bridge was built…..let’s just say a very long time ago. It originally crossed the south fork of Maple Creek near Ginger Hill. It was moved to its current spot in Mingo Creek Park in 1977. It is a Queenpost design bridge. Washington County PA has over twenty of these historic covered bridges spread across the county. All of them are cool in their own way.

It’s been a while since I posted a football photo. Therefore, you get the Los Angeles Chargers Quarterback Philip Rivers. I took this photo last season when the Chargers were in town playing the Steelers. He looks pretty happy in this picture….why I don’t remember.

I hope you had a great weekend. I enjoyed my weekend hanging out with MJ and Blair. We did some yard work, some chores and took Blair to the airport…. Nothing special, just a nice relaxing weekend with the family.
Tonight’s photo is from the magical Bratislava Slovakia. I loved this little city. In this photo you can see the UFO Bridge (called that due to the odd-looking observation deck), Bratislava Castle and the Danube River.

When Blair and I traveled to Ukraine to visit Chernobyl, we stayed in a little village called Slavutych. From here, we traveled by train each day back and forth to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone to explore the nuclear power plants, Pripyat, and the surrounding area. On our last morning, we talked to this church in Slavutych to photograph this wonderful facility. I don’t know anything about their traditions, but I found it interesting that the church had no pews or chairs inside. During the service, everyone stands.
As you can see, it was a foggy morning with a gray sky.

Apparently, I’m not a very clever individual. I struggle more times then I’d like to admit coming up with things to say when I type up these blog posts. Maybe it is because I work on them after long hours at work…or maybe I’m just not very clever.
Therefore, you get boring posts….. I don’t really have anything clever to say tonight either. I took this photo on the Smithfield Bridge in Pittsburgh. If you haven’t seen it, I believe it is the most underrated bridge in and around the city.
I can’t remember if I captured this photo in South Africa or Swaziland. Regardless, it was the same trip…..anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

Short and sweet post tonight. This is the lower level path at the Pittsburgh Convention Center (David L. Lawrence Convention Center). I took this photo when Theatherwiz and Robert Lussier where in town. We hit a number of cool spots and took a ton of photos.

During our recent trip, we had a great few days in Budapest Hungary. This is a wonderful city. One of our stops around the city was this amazing market. You could buy just about anything you want and the place was packed with people. The building was completed in 1897.

This Benedictine abbey in the town of Melk Austria sits upon a hill top overlooking the Melk village and the Danube river in the Wachau valley. The abbey was started in 1089. The abbey started the monastic school in the 12th century and today has over 900 students. This building was built starting in 1702 and finished in 1736. I took this photo inside an internal courtyard.

This is Vienna Austria’s idea of street graffiti. As we walked around the downtown city area exploring, I found this little spot and a few other similar style graffiti spots. I loved the old look of the graffiti and the street environment. As you can tell, it was a rainy, gray, cloudy day, which we experienced a bunch during this trip.

We had a great river cruise down the Danube River to Budapest. There are so many wonderful spots. I captured this photo with my drone of the 19th-century suspension bridge connecting Buda to Pest with the Buda Castle and Palace complex in the background. The castle housed the Hungarian Kings of Budapest. It was completed in 1265 and was expanded/renovated in 1749 and 1769. In the past it was referred to by Royal Palace or Royal Castle. Today Hungary uses it for their National Gallery and History Museum.

I took this recently on a trip through part of Germany. This cool little college town has some long history like many areas in this part of the world including back to medieval times. We were out most of the day exploring this town. Later that night, I went out for a short period to capture some evening photos. I liked this one because you get the historic Stone Bridge (12th century), Danube River and the Dom St. Peter Cathedral (13th century Gothic style) all in one beautiful photo.

Short post tonight….. I took this photo a few weeks ago in downtown Pittsburgh while the Pirates were playing the Athletics. It seems like everyone takes photos of these bridges aimed the opposite direction (back towards the city). I don’t see many aimed toward the stadium….. So here goes.

As Blair and I walked around Kiev taking photos, we came upon this facility. It was labeled the Museum of Water. We didn’t stand in line to enter, so I can’t speak about it firsthand. When I looked it up later, I learned it includes old water towers and reservoirs with displays on water.
Regardless of what was inside, I liked the looks of it and the scene that unfolded in front of us.

This is the bridge our train crossed going back and forth to Chernobyl every day. Towards the end of the week, we went to this spot to photograph the bridge with the Chernobyl Nuclear Reactor Number 4 and its new sarcophagus in the background. As you can tell, it was very overcast that afternoon…..

I couldn’t come up with a clever title for this post for a number of reasons, which we won’t get into tonight.
Anyway, I took this photo recently at the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston West Virginia. Unfortunately, they have the place all cleaned up. It wasn’t grungy enough for me. I wanted it in the state it was in when the Lunatic Asylum closed. They’ve got it all “safe”, clean and “pretty”. I think the real beauty would have been in the “dirty, stuff left behind” condition. If that makes sense…..
I made the best of it and captured some cool photos. This was on one of the upper floors. Something about this hallway caught my eye. Standing there, I could imagine all the patients (prisoners) being locked up in these little rooms. Some of the “treatments” and “therapies” they used over the decades was rough to put it mildly. When this facility was operational, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
