Today’s post is a photo from downtown Pittsburgh. This is PPG Place. Someday, I want to explore the inside of this building. The outside is amazing looking and for some reason, I’ve imagined the inside as being just an average business office. If anyone at PPG Place wants to prove me wrong, DM me.
The Shard Reflection
During my London visit, Robert showed me this cool alley to capture some wonderful images of the Shard, which is what they call the tall skyscraper in this photo. I liked this version from the numerous I took in this area. For this photo, I moved the camera right up next to a glass building to get this reflection.
Sunbeams Behind Pittsburgh
This was a great and beautiful morning, but what’s up with that little bit of sun at the top of the US Steel Building???
Cincinnati Suspension Bridge
Gosh, I hope you have a great weekend. I know I needed the break this weekend.…
I had an entire COVID vaccine blog post typed tonight in regard to how people are acting. I shared it with MJ and she immediately said, “I’m sure that felt good to write, but delete it immediately!!”
Oculus World Trade Center Station
I enjoyed my last trip to NYC back in 2019. MJ and I explored Manhattan, per our normal process. This was the first time we explored the Oculus building. This unique building is a terminal station on the PATH subway system. It also has an underground mall within it. I loved the architecture of this building.
Liberty Bridge View
Sky View
I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a busy week. Thus, a short post for you tonight.
I took this photo during better times (pre-COVID). This is the US Steel building in downtown Pittsburgh. You can see the three rivers in the background.

Highmark
Ok. I need to post a photo that isn’t from Europe to break my recent streak. So here is a aerial photo from downtown Pittsburgh looking down at the Highmark building. Have a great weekend.

6th Street
Have a great weekend. I had all kinds of ideas about what I could and should do…. And I’m not doing any of them. So, what did I do? I ran a 5K fun run today to raise money and awareness for TRPIL, but otherwise I’ve got lazy and didn’t do much.
I took this photo few weeks ago at dusk in downtown Pittsburgh. I think Pittsburgh is a beautiful city with amazing views. This is one of many such spots. If you’re not familiar with Pittsburgh, this is the 6th Street Bridge in the foreground and the downtown area of the city behind it.

Old and New
I like this city photo a bunch and I’m not really sure why. Its probably just the contrast between the old building and the new skyscraper in the background. I took this last fall while I was in San Francisco. I spent probably 8 hours over three days just walking around the city capturing random photos here and there. It will be interesting to see if you like it as much as I do. There are photos I expect to get lots of love that do and others that surprise me and don’t. But I don’t know what to expect with this one. So let’s find out.

I’m keeping it short tonight. Here is a photo I took of the Empire State Building just after sunset. I loved the colors in the sky that evening. What do you think?

Fort Pitt Bridge and The City
I took this sunrise photo a few weeks ago when I was downtown with Brad and Dave. Not much I can say about it…. Just your typical downtown sunrise photo.
For those of you not from Pittsburgh, this is the Monongahela River, Fort Pitt Bridge, and downtown Pittsburgh on the left. The best view of the city, in my opinion, is when you come out of the Fort Pitt Tunnel and immediately enter this bridge. At that point, you get an amazing view of the city. #TheBestCityView

City With A View
Its been a while since I posted a NYC photo and its been a while since my last visit to the Big Apple. Maybe I’ll try to fit a visit in next year. I know I can’t fit it into my 2018 travel schedule. At this point, 2018 is full and 2019 is starting to fill up as well. We’ll see what I can do. By the way, I think this view from Brooklyn is amazing.

Seattle In Gray
I took this photo a few years ago and it’s been sitting on my hard drive waiting to be processed. I finished it recently and decided to make it a black and white photo. I loved the city of Seattle…. It was such a great city and I’m ready to return.

Manhattan Skyline
We don’t have a trip to NYC this year and that’s a little sad. I understand why some individuals would not want to visit a “big city”. It just not for everyone, I get that. But I really enjoy my visits and am looking forward to our next visit…whenever that may be. Anyway, I took this photo from on top of Rockefeller Center right before sunset.

NYC Skyline
Empire Reflection
Last fall while in NYC, MJ and I covered a large section of Manhattan. And of course, I photographed every moment. I captured this photo on our 2nd night as we walked back to our hotel. I noticed the Empire State Building reflecting off this glass skyscraper and had to capture the moment. It’s a very artsy type of photo, which I love. I’m guessing that this won’t be something most people like, but I like it.
Citizen Hotel
This 15-story building was Sacramento’s first skyscraper. It was built in 1925 as the California Life Insurance building, now it is home to The Citizen Hotel. The hotel is a first rate luxury and boutique hotel, at least that’s what the Internet claims. It has 198 rooms, which are almost all unique in design and décor. The Citizen is also home to Grange Restaurant & Bar, which I visited with some friends. I would highly recommend this restaurant because the food was wonderful.
I found the hotel’s lobby by mistake when I left the restaurant’s dinning room to find the restroom. Once I stumbled upon the lobby, I knew I had to photograph it. By today’s standards the lobby is very small. You can’t tell by looking at my photo, but there isn’t much more to this setting. But as you can tell, it is an amazing spot with lots of rich fabrics, colors, and atmosphere.
Flatiron Building
By popular request, well by MJ’s request….here is a photo of
the Flatiron Building in the borough of Manhattan. It is considered to be the first and groundbreaking
skyscraper in New York City. It
was completed in 1902 and was the tallest building in the city for a number of
years. When it was constructed,
the people in the city though the wind would blow it over. So the owners put their offices on the
top floor to show their confidence in the structure.
Over one hundred years later, it has become a landmark site that the city is proud of. I must admit it was one of my favorite buildings. It is hard not to like this cool looking building. There is this tiny park in front of it with people hanging out at little tables enjoying the environment. Cool place.
