Bonaire Sunset

Today’s post is a sunset time lapse (plus a few boats) and the beautiful time after the sunset in Bonaire.  I captured this with a new toy (not part of my recent Sony camera gear purchase).  I got the DJI Pocket Osmo and used it a bunch on the Bonaire trip.  I set it up during a dinner we had at an ocean front restaurant.  I put it at the water’s edge and let it go for about an hour to capture this cool video.

Bonaire Time Lapse

I’m playing with (testing) my new DJI Pocket Osmo in time lapse mode.  I set this up on the pool railing looking out at the Caribbean Sea.  I need to make some adjustments next time, but it turned out fairly well for a “first time” use.  I’ve never used this outside my living room before.  It’ll be better next time, but I hope you enjoy it regardless.

Baby Baboon

Tonight’s photo is from our South Africa trip.  Hard to believe that was over two years ago now.  During one of the safaris, we came upon a troop of baboons including a few babies.  This guy sat down near our safari vehicle and let us take a bunch of photos.  By the way, I have no idea what is sticking out of his mouth.

Clarification:  In my Mid-Life Crisis video (posted last night) I mentioned it is getting close to my birthday.  What I meant is that my birthday is coming up within this year…..  Basically, using that as a lame excuse to justify my expensive camera gear purchase….  So, it isn’t my birthday anytime soon.  Sorry to confuse you….

Mid-life Crisis

First the photo…. I took this at the @seafireresort in Grand Cayman at the beginning of December.  This exterior path ran along the building to the restaurant at the end.  But enough about that….

Second…the Mid-life Crisis….  At least that’s what I’m calling it.  Watch the video below for more details.

Playoffs - Seahawks

More NFL playoff games today.  Today, they have the Titans vs the Chiefs and then the Seahawks vs the Packers for us to watch.

Here is a photo I took of Russell Wilson earlier this year when Seattle was in Pittsburgh.  I captured this on the field after the game while he was being interviewed.  How about that hair!!

High Line

If you ever get to NYC, check out the Highline.  They took an elevated train track that runs for a few miles through Manhattan and converted it into an elevated city park called the Highline.  This is one of the Highline green spaces with a pretty cool building next to it.  Not exactly what you’d expect in Manhattan.

Seafire Sunset

I spent some time yesterday editing photos from our Grand Cayman trip.  We stayed at the beautiful Kimpton Seafire Resort ( @seafireresort ).  MJ and I had a great time around the pool, beach and the resort.  Probably my favorite activity was when we hung out in the warm ocean enjoying a few beers.  “Extreme relaxation” in that moment.  Just the two of us hanging out and talking…. Communication has been the key to our 30+ years of marriage.

Anyway, a couple of nights, I ran around the resort capturing sunset photos.  I love this photo and I can’t really explain why.  Maybe it’s the colors, reflections, lights, depth, leading lines, textures, etc… I don’t know, but I love it!!

Tower of Voices

This sculpture at the Flight 93 National Memorial is supposed to function as a super large wind chime.  For some reason, it never worked right so only about a third of the chimes are actually installed.  Regardless, this thing is pretty cool.  You can use this LINK to read more about it.

Graffiti Alley

During our road trip to Baltimore, we made a stop at Graffiti Alley in West Baltimore….let me say that it was just amazing.  Of course, I love and appreciate nicely done graffiti.  This spot is basically, an “L” shaped alley that is painted with hundreds (maybe over a thousand) murals and graffiti (street art).

The city (or someone) allows people to do make it sort of an outside permanent, but always changing, art exhibit.  This spot is consistently being used for photo shoots, videos, etc…  We did our own little photo shoot using steel wool (and Jake got sucked into photographing some local rappers).  I’ve done this in the past at various locations.  Normally, I’m the person spinning the steel wool.  This time @jasonpohuski did the spinning, while @jakemysliwczykphoto and I captured it via photos and video using five devices.

Baltimore Harbor

Last weekend I completed a little road trip with Jason Pohuski and Jake Mysliwczyk.  We traveled to Baltimore to take some photos and videos around the city’s hot spots and photograph the Steelers-Ravens game on Sunday.  We had a successful and fun trip….regardless of disaster around Jake’s wallet.  I’ll leave that story for another day.

I captured this photo late Saturday night while we explored Under Armour’s headquarters on the harbor.  I am grateful to Under Armour for their sponsorship of the trip.  Big thanks to them and I hope they like the final product.  More to come on that another day as well.

Haden

I captured this photo pre-game last Sunday in Baltimore for the Ravens vs. Steelers game.  It rained all day……..

This is Joe Haden who plays as a defensive back for Pittsburgh finishing his 10th season.  Now he and all the other Steelers will have time to relax…no playoffs for them.  Until next year!!

Pripyat Restaurant

I loved the stained-glass windows in this abandoned restaurant along the river in Pripyat, Ukraine.  Before the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, this must have been a great place to enjoy a meal.
