My Morning View

After months of nothing but hiding at home and going to work, I finally got off my butt to take some photos.  Gosh, I missed it so much…. I think the stress of world events and my work have just made me tired.  It’s probably made most people tired.  So, I got out with Brad and took this photo this morning.  After I got home, MJ and I did a little yard work.  Afterward, I went with Blair to shoot trap.  Plus, MJ and I got a little time together as well.  And we capped off the day by watching a corny romantic movie.  It was a good Sunday!!

Stafford to Abdullah

Another NFL throwback for you.  Here is a photo I took at Ford Field in 2018 of Matthew Stafford handing the ball to Ameer Abdullah.  I don’t remember for sure, but I think my Lions lost this game.  Not that the Lions losing is an unusual event.

St. Mary's Mercy Hospital

Today’s post is from an abandoned hospital in Gary Indiana.  I captured this during the filming of “Shutter Rush – City of Abandonment”.  This abandoned hospital is in very rough shape.  Interestingly, the other half was converted into a City of Gary Police department.  So, we were careful not to draw attention to ourselves.  I think this was supply storeroom for their surgical rooms.

Gary Sparks

No, this isn’t a fireworks photo from this holiday weekend.  This photo was created with steel wool inside the boiler room of an abandoned school in Gary Indiana.  Jason was spinning while Blair, Jake and I captured photos.  This is one of my photos from that moment, which was part of the great Shutter Rush weekend.  You can see the documentary of that weekend on Amazon Prime.

National Museum of African American History and Culture

Like many things in the COVID world, this great museum is closed right now….  I love the architecture of this building, which is so different compared to the rest of the Smithsonian facilities on the Washington Mall.  Good stuff.

Jupiter Factory Again

Here is another photo from the Jupiter Factory inside the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.  See my last post for a few more details on this factory.  I took this photo on an upper floor within the factory complex. I think this was a mechanical space or maybe support space.  It didn’t look like factory production space to me.  I liked the columns and other support beams in this room.

Jupiter Factory

This is the abandoned Jupiter Factory located on the edge of Pripyat within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.  The Russian’s officially claimed this factory manufactured cassette recorders and components for home appliances, but it secretly produced semiconductor components for the Soviet military and had a test workshop for robotic systems.

Pripyat Cultural Center

This iconic Chernobyl building is the Cultural Center in the main square of downtown Pripyat.  It has a couple swimming pools, boxing ring, gymnastic equipment, auditorium, exercise rooms, and a bunch of other things.  Right behind this building is where the carnival was setup to start a festival that never happened.  By the way, this structure was a great building to explore.

Martavis

Tonight’s post is a throwback to 2018.  This is Martavis Bryant in 2017 before he was traded to the Raiders.  Shortly after getting to Raiders he dramatically hurt his career by getting an indefinite suspension for violating the NFL’s drug policy…. At this point, he hasn’t been reinstated yet.  Extremely sad since he is talented.
